Apple's next monitor may double up as a smart display

Apple is reportedly developing a new monitor with a custom Apple silicon chip that could function as a smart display even when not connected to a Mac. Similar to the A13 chip found in the Studio Display, this chip would allow the monitor to work independently. The monitor is rumored to have Siri integration and the ability to display live updates and widgets, similar to the StandBy feature on iPhones. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the release of the monitor is not expected until next year.
